Job Description

Chief of Staff to the CFO | Pre-IPO $1B ARR SaaS | NY (Remote)

We’re excited to be partnering exclusively with one of the most compelling private equity-backed businesses in the data and analytics space. This company has established itself as the undisputed market leader, operating a scaled platform that combines an online marketplace with proprietary SaaS-based data analytics products, giving clients an unparalleled view of consumer behavior, sentiment and market dynamics.

Backed by one of the world’s premier technology-focused private equity firms, the business has reached $1 billion in annual revenue and employs approximately 1,500 people globally. They are recognized as the dominant player in their category, trusted by leading brands, financial institutions and professional services firms across the globe.

The finance function is led by an exceptional CFO, a two-time public company CFO with deep roots in investment banking and private equity, who has been brought in to lead the business through one of its most significant chapters. Alongside her, the senior leadership team brings together expertise from IB, PE and high-growth SaaS scaleups, creating an environment that is analytically rigorous, commercially sharp and genuinely ambitious.

The business is investing heavily in its data platforms, AI-enabled reporting and finance transformation, and is building towards a highly anticipated exit. It is a rare moment to join a market leader at full momentum.

The Opportunity

This is not a conventional Chief of Staff role. This is a finance-first position sitting directly alongside one of the most accomplished CFOs in the private equity-backed technology space. You will operate as their analytical and executional right hand, embedded at the heart of the finance function, deeply involved in a breadth of high-value financial activity.

For the right person – intellectually curious, technically sharp, and hungry to learn this role represents a excellent platform. You will work on the financial outputs that land in front of the board, the investor community and the company’s most senior stakeholders. The learning curve will be steep with exceptional exposure to a high-performing exec team.

This suited to someone ready to step out of a structured investment banking or corporate finance environment and into something faster, more complex and considerably more impactful.

Responsibilities

CFO Support & Financial Execution

• Act as the CFO’s primary analytical and operational resource, ensuring she is fully prepared, briefed and supported across all financial workstreams.

• Review, stress-test and refine financial models, board decks, investor presentations and management reports before they reach senior stakeholders, ensuring rigor, accuracy and narrative clarity throughout.

• Take on first-draft ownership of complex financial analyses, freeing the CFO’s time for strategic and relationship work.

• Manage the CFO’s financial workload and priorities, identifying where her attention is most needed and ensuring nothing critical falls through the gaps.

Strategic & Ad Hoc Projects

• Lead and support a wide range of high-priority, time-sensitive projects across finance and the broader business – many of which will be directly linked to the company’s exit preparation and strategic agenda.

• Conduct bespoke financial analyses and scenario modelling to support key business decisions, providing clear, well-structured outputs for senior audiences.

• Support M&A activity, due diligence processes and investor relations workstreams as required, working alongside advisors and the CFO directly.

• Assist with the preparation of long-range financial plans and strategic narratives that will form the foundation of the company’s exit story.

• Engage cross-functionally on finance transformation initiatives, helping to drive progress on system upgrades, data platform investments and process improvement programmes.

Reporting & Analysis

• Oversee the production and quality control of regular financial reporting packs, ensuring outputs are accurate, insightful and delivered on time.

• Develop and maintain analytical frameworks and models that give the CFO real-time visibility into business performance, risks and opportunities..

• Identify opportunities to improve the quality, efficiency and impact of the finance function’s reporting and analytical output.

Stakeholder Coordination

• Act as a trusted liaison between the CFO and other members of the senior leadership team, ensuring alignment and follow-through on financial priorities.

• Build strong working relationships across the finance function and the broader business, creating the connective tissue that keeps high-priority workstreams moving.

• Represent the CFO’s office professionally and discreetly in interactions with external advisors, investors and board members where appropriate.

What You Need

• 10 - 15 years experience across M&A, Corporate Development, Growth & Strategy, Business Operations or related fields

• A background in investment banking, with strong financial modelling, valuation and presentation skills developed in a demanding, high-output environment.

• Exceptional attention to detail; the ability to review and improve financial models, board materials and reports to an extremely high standard.

• Strong written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex financial analysis into clear, concise narratives for senior audiences.

• High levels of intellectual curiosity and commercial acumen – someone who wants to understand the business, not just the numbers.

• The maturity and professionalism to operate with discretion in a highly confidential, senior environment.

What We’d Like to See

• Exposure to private equity, M&A, capital markets, either through banking or an in-house finance role.

• Experience producing or reviewing board-level financial materials in a fast-moving environment.

• An interest in technology, SaaS business models or data-driven industries.

Compensation

• Salary: $190,000– $240,000 base salary

• Bonus: Performance-based annual bonus

• Location: Fully remote (NYC strongly preferred)

At Harmonic, we're committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive environment. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and ensure every candidate is considered equitably and respectfully.
